LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif met a delegation of major Chinese investors, including women investors, who showed strong interest in investing in Punjab. The meeting took place before the CM’s departure for Brazil and was considered highly significant.
Maryam Nawaz said Punjab offers vast investment opportunities and introduced the new “Zero Time to Start Policy,” which allows investors to begin business operations immediately with full support from the government. She said that Punjab is currently in one of its best phases for investment.
She highlighted that industrial zones and parks have great potential and that the government will offer tax holidays and import duty exemptions to investors. Key investment sectors include infrastructure, the IT industry, real estate, and medical tourism.
The CM also shared that Punjab has:
Built over 100,000 houses in just ten months,
Started work on glass trains and high-speed trains, and
Allocated land to build Punjab's largest medical district.
She added that business processes are now completely online — no paperwork is required — making it easier for investors to start operations immediately.
The Chinese delegation appreciated the CM’s hospitality and expressed interest in investing in multiple sectors.
